Site Visits & Consultations

WHY A SITE VISIT / CONSULTATION IS SO IMPORTANT

We continually run into situations where one of our competitor's has been in a harbor and has lead everyone to believe that one single (floating trash collection only unit) will clean up an entire harbor all by itself. THIS SIMPLY ISN'T TRUE.....

For example, the Channel Islands Harbor (Oxnard, CA) encompasses over 160-acres and is an average depth of some 25-feet, that's some 3,300 acre feet of water. 1-acre foot of water contains 325,851 gallons, so multiplied by the 160-acres  you now have some 52,136,160 Gallons of water you're trying to treat.

Even IF there was a way to make all of that water circulate around to the location of a single unit, (using a 4,000 GPH pump), it would take some 13,034-hours to capture and process that volume or water, some 543 days !! And that's presuming no changes occur within the harbor whatsoever, no additional pollutants, no rain events, no fuel spills, etc. What doesn't change over the course of a year and a half?

Typically more than one unit is required, i.e. the Los Angeles Harbor will require some 200 devices to even have a chance of improving their water quality and look at all the traffic / debris they have to contend with on a daily basis.....

It's important to fully understand what the causes and effect are and what type of unit to place in what locations to achieve the most benefit, in other words, "the best bang for the buck". You need to talk with a Professional instead of just a salesman trying to make a buck.......

Why is this especially important to saltwater marinas? Rainwater runoff entering a harbor introduces all manner of new pollutants with it. Rain water is lighter than seawater and tends to "float", forming a liquid barrier which dramatically decreasing the available oxygen content. We need to understand how & where pollutants are introduced into the harbor in order to better implement the appropriate measures for better control / elimination of all the potential pollutant sources.
